The Pebble Heads
Comical cartoon style paintings on canvas of characters, groups, families, couples and friends all with real pebbles for heads.
Jacqueline Hammond’s best-selling series of caricatures and commissioned portraits in which the subject's facial features are painted on real pebbles from Brighton beach and glued on to the canvas. As well as private clients commissioning portraits of family groups at the seaside, Jacqueline is painting a Pebble Head Celebs Series in which she 'pebblises' the celebrities and well known faces.. This began with an original and highly collectible piece of art, created to commemorate The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.in 2011. Prior to the day of the wedding she imagined how The Royal Family would gather on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. Using the shape and contours of the pebble and, she has depicted each figure with a real sense of likeness and satirical humour.
